378.890 sqm planned, 2012

Installation, 244x122 cm, model, (wood and pvc), vinyl

378.890 sqm planned is a model of an industrial park based on the sum of unproduced material originally envisioned to be produced by four Cuban construction companies during 2011. Noticing the discrepancy between the companies’ planned output and the actual production in a year, the artist calculated and created a hypothetical model of what could have been built if the production plans had been followed through in the first place. In Cuba it often occurs that the figures of unproduced materials are higher than the production output.
